Conference
Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations are an important tool to better understand the complex physics of astrophysical and geophysical plasma flows. As the frontiers are constantly pushed towards more accurate, faster and higher resolved simulations new mathematical approaches are needed to meet these goals. Therefore, the conference Numerical Techniques in MHD Simulations (MHD-SIM) focuses on recent developments of numerical techniques, models, and algorithms to address challenging science questions in computational space and astrophysics. Our conference covers various approaches to describe plasmas as a fluid, i.e., single fluid, multi-fluid and Hall-MHD approaches. The aim is to bring together researchers of several fields, such as applied mathematics, computer science, space science and astrophysics, in order to foster interdisciplinary discussions and to stimulate potential future collaborations.

Authors are invited to submit conference abstracts with up to 400 words. Authors may declare their preference for talk or poster. For your submission, please use the contact form below. Please make sure to include the full name of all authors and corresponding affiliations (in Authors: author 1, affil 1a, affil 1b; author 2, affil 2). You may use LaTeX commands in the abstract.
To register, please send an email with the subject "registration" to mhd-sim@uni-koeln.de. Please be sure to include your full name, your affiliation and whether you qualify as student (also PhD candidates) or not. The registration fee of 100 EUR (60 EUR for students) will cover snacks and refreshments during coffee breaks, lunch and a dinner with all participants.
Pre-Conference Workshop
We are planning a pre-conference workshop designed for students that are new to the field. The workshop will cover the theoretical and practical background needed to follow the conference lectures. It is therefore a great opportunity for students to prepare for the conference. More details soon on the conference website.
For questions regarding the conference feel free to contact us via mhd-sim@uni-koeln.de.
